The first of many blog entries from Vanguard grad and pro basketball player Jessica Dickson.
Ocala native Jessica Dickson, the career scoring leader among men or women at both Vanguard High School and the University of South Florida and a 2nd-round WNBA draft pick, will soon travel to Croatia to continue her professional basketball career. This is the first of her blog entries for The Sports Blog at ocala.com.
Well, time is really short for me to make my journey I will be leaving Thursday (Sept. 20) to head over to Croatia to open up another chapter in this story called life. From what I have seen and heard, it seems to be a beautiful place. I'm excited and nervous but I know I will be fine.
I was actually supposed to leave last Friday, but that didn't happen. I'm not gonna lie, I was happy about that. I had a chance to spend another week with my mom and family, so that was good.
Packing has been a chore. I just hate to do it, but it has to be done. I'm just ready to get over there and get situated. I have been talking to one of my college teammates who is in the Czech Republic. She has been telling me horror stories. LOL! But I'm sure I will be fine because I will be doing a lot of praying, and I'm sure many of you will be praying for me as well.
I am definitely gonna miss my USF family down in Tampa, all the coaches and my teammates. I wish them the best!
