Pete Deglomine, a control consultant with Clarke Mosquito Contol, left and Jess Knight, the Storm Water manager for the City of Ocala, right, look over a pickup truck that sprays a synthetic pyrethroid as the truck is readied to drive through a northeast Ocala neighborhood for mosquito control on Northeast 32nd Avenue in Ocala, Fla. on Wednesday, July 16, 2008. The pyrethroid spray is a synthetic chemical insecticide, similar to pyrethrins. It is derived from chrysanthemum flowers. The pyrethroid, mixed with a synergist compound and water or oil, is sprayed in an ultra low volume spray and dispenses very fine aerosol droplets that stay aloft and kill adult mosquitoes on contact. Clarke Mosquioto Control, whose closest operation office is located in Putnam County, is contracted to spray 38 different zones in the City of Ocala. (Star-Banner Photo/NYTRENG, Bruce ACKERMAN).
