walmart rage By jf on 4/8/2008 8:41 AM
April 8, 2008

I want to express an incident that occurred at Walmart on 19th Avenue last night; my eyes are tearing up as I write this, it has really emotionally hurt me tremendously.

I am suffering from some hip/leg problems and depend on the shopping cart for stability to ambulate. I am only 47 years old and just feel so debilitated with this problem and feel that I slow my patient family down and I am very sensitive to the disability anyway. I was standing in line in the garden department and a lady and her teenage daughter came up behind me, bumped me, and pushed their way around me to go to another register (there were other ways around but they chose to not do that). When they got to their register, the customer in front of them had some price issues and they were highly upset that they had to wait. Regardless, I was through my register ahead of them. As I exited the store and got into the parking lot with my husband and teenage daughter, this lady and her daughter speedily came up behind me and AGAIN tried to bump me out of the way to get to their car (again, they had the whole parking lot to avoid me). They then began to laugh and yell out obscenities to me as they were loading their car with their purchases. We happened to be parked opposite them in the same aisle. My daughter was already in our car and my husband loading our purchases while I was slowly trying to get there with the help of the shopping cart. The lady was making obscene hand gestures at my daughter and calling us VERY obscene names. They then were both laughing, cursing, got into their car and quickly sped out of the parking lot. I was appalled at this behavior. I can still picture their devilish laughs and smiles on their faces as they crushed my heart.

We are faithful Christians and held back our retaliative nature but I cried all the way home and again as I went to bed. Some of the phrases/language she used was so personal and it really hurt my feelings deeply. It also hurt me most that my daughter had to hear such filthy words. I hope that she reads this and understands how rude and unnecessary this whole scene was. I hope that she also realizes that she is teaching her teenage daughter to also act in this nature by example; hence the “worldly domino effect”. I therefore pen this as “Walmart Rage” and without being able to come up with a solution, I can only say that I pray that she does not hurt anyone so badly again. Does she realize that mental abuse is a real offense? Thanks for letting me express my experience and hurt. I never realized how sensitive I could be from actions of a complete stranger and now I realize how truly mean the world is becoming.
