Reminder that the Florida State Championship Tournament deadline is February 29, 2008.

CHANGE IN DATE FOR Six Game Sweeper - MOVED TO MARCH 16 - SO IT WOULD NOT CONFLICT WITH THE CITY TOURNAMENT. LOCATION - AMF Ocala. $40 single entry; $70 combo entry. Handicap is 90% of 210. Early entries to be turned in to AMF Ocala; walk in entries up to 30 minutes prior to squad times. For more information contact JJ Jones the tournament director at 732-7355.

Go to the PBA Motel 6 web site to vote for the location you would like to see the tournament come to. Orlando is in the running. Voting counts. Check it out.

The Ocala USBC Women’s Bowling Association’s Annual City Championship Tournament gets underway this morning at AMF Ocala with the Team Event. The tournament will move to AMF West for the Doubles/Singles event on Sunday and then the events will be just the opposite next weekend to conclude the tournament. Come out and support your favorite female bowler as she, she and her team or she and her doubles partner vie for top honors in the City Championship.

The "unofficial" standings for the Marion County USBC City Championship Tournament are posted. Finals will be out in about thirty (30) days after averages have been verified of those in the cashing positions. Should any disqualifications be necessary it will delay the posting of "official" standings until all appeal times have expired. Unofficial congratulations to those in the winning slots.

The National Convention will take place in Kansas City, Missouri, May 6-10, 2008. The proposed by-law changes can be found at bowl.com under the "convention" heading and then the sublist at the convention web site. Check out what is being proposed for next year. Let me know your thoughts and whether or not you agree with USBC’s recommendations regarding acceptance or rejection.

Interestingly there is no mention of a dues increase or a merger of state and local associations. Does USBC have something new up their sleeve? Need to check out how much power the board of USBC has regarding dues increases without membership approval or have they decided to wait and see what type of decline they face with the changes in the award structure.

More to report after May.

That’s all for this week!!
