Follow all of tonight's Marion County high school football action right here.

NORTH MARION = DISTRICT CHAMPS!

PLAYOFF UPDATE: Trinity Catholic is in. Chiefland beat Union County 43-11, giving the Celtics the runner-up spot on a tiebreaker. They'll travel to 2B-3 champion Jacksonville Episcopal for the playoffs Nov. 16. Thanks to commenter Legend for the early info.

Good evening, and welcome to Week 10 of high school football in Marion County. The Sports Blog is overwhelmed with emotion to again be your destination for live updates throughout another Friday evening.

Each game is more important than the last at this late juncture of the season, and none is more important than North Marion vs. Dunnellon. You can read Byron Saucer's advance of that game and capsule previews of it and the county's other three games right here on ocala.com.

Trinity Catholic got a head start on this week's festivities by handing it to Tallahassee Rickards on Thursday night. For further football-related reading as we await the kick, take a look at last week's epic Friday Night Football Scoreboard. It turned purple!

Below, tonight's games. Feel free to comment, but please keep your remarks appropriate for a family forum such as The Sports Blog. Thanks for your participation, and enjoy the games.

Dunnellon
@ North Marion

TD UPDATE:
Andrew Stichter lunges across the goal line to open the scoring. Dunnellon leads 6-0 after an XP block.
TD UPDATE: Chuckie Looney finds Albert Gary for six, and the XP gives North Marion a 7-6 lead.
FG UPDATE: Well, that was impressive. Rodrigo Quezada hits a 48-yard field goal to put Dunnellon back on top, 9-7.
HALFTIME: Dunnellon gets a piece of a last-second Colts field goal, and preserves its 9-7 lead going into half.
TD UPDATE: Albert Gary gets in from short yardage, then tosses the 2-point conversion to put the Colts up 15-9.
TD UPDATE: Advantage, Tigers. Justin Peacock scores for Dunnellon, and the XP puts the Tigers up 16-15.
TD UPDATE: Advantage, Colts. Albert Gary runs 80 yards for his third TD, putting North Marion up 21-16. No deal on the 2-point conversion.
TD UPDATE: Eddie Rocker's score breaks the pattern and gives North Marion some room. With nine-plus minutes to play, it's 28-16.
UPDATE: Colts are pretty much running down the clock at this point. It looks like the Colts are district champs again, and Dunnellon is headed for a three-way tiebreaker Monday night against Williston and West Port.
FINAL: 28-16, North Marion. Colts are district champs, Tigers are in a playoff at home on Monday.

Vanguard
@ Forest

HALFTIME: Forest leads by a touchdown at the half. Wildcats 14, Knights 7.
FINAL: Forest wins 31-26.

Belleview
@ Lake Weir

UPDATE: Word is this one's to be delayed by a non-operational light.
UPDATE: Well, they're playing alright. Lake Weir leads 14-0 over Belleview. That's a game I'd like to be watching right now.
HALFTIME: Hurricanes hold the lead at the break, 21-6.
FINAL: It's a streak! Lake Weir beats Belleview, 27-21

First Academy
@ St. John

1Q UPDATE: First Academy ahead 3-0 after one.
TD UPDATE: Vinny Carrizzo runs it in from 15 yards to put St. John ahead. 2-point conversion failed, and it's 6-3 Saints.
TD UPDATE: Ryan Roach pads the Saints lead with a 1-yard keeper, then tosses to Ricky Melendez for 2. 14-3 SJL with 7 to play until halftime.
HALFTIME: Same score, 14-3 St. John. Saints could be on the way to their first win of the season.
TD UPDATE: Nick Zalak's 3-yard run puts St. John up 20-3 in the closing moments of the third quarter. 2-point fails.
FINAL: Another Zalak TD in the fourth delivers St. John its first win of the season, 26-3.

Way to go Colts!!! I Knew the Tigers would give them a rough time!<br> I think those are the best coached and supported teams in Marion County!

Re: Friday Night Football Scoreboard, 11/2    By Rory on 11/2/2007 9:48 PM
I agree with that. They are two of the best teams in the county

Re: Friday Night Football Scoreboard, 11/2    By Legend on 11/2/2007 10:18 PM
Chiefland blasts Union County. Looks like Trinity claims the runner-up spot, by tie-breaker, in their district by way of winning head to head against Chiefland.

Tigers "stayin' " alive. A cat of a different bread. Nine lives??? Go Tigers

Jamal Thomas made the most amazing play ... it needs to be sent into ESPN. He made every Belleview player miss him. North Marion hosts Nature Coast in the 3A playoffs. NMHS has a tougher game than the runner-up, who gets Crystal River. Nature Coast was missing several starters when it lost 18-15 to Crystal River. Expect the 3A-5 winner and runner-up to meet again. As for streaks, Lakeland High's 52-game winning streak came to an end at the hands of Kissimmee Osceola. Oscoela beat Kissimmee Harmony at home by just 10. OHS is 5A and HHS is 3A. If HHS gets in off a tiebreaker, they will meet North Marion in the regional finals. TC and Newberry will meet in the regional finals. As far as the tiebreaker, it would be only fitting that Williston wins after having its quarterback out for several key games, but also would be nice to see DUnnellon get one more shot at West Port.

Lake Weir vs Belleview was the best game I've been to in a very long time, Jamal Thomas is a super player

Re: Friday Night Football Scoreboard, 11/2    By Jesse on 11/3/2007 12:17 AM
North Marion played a little lax tonight, and Dunnellon came out fired up. Dunnellon played their hearts out. It was probably one of their best games of the year, but in the end the Colts just are so talented. I can't wait for the playoff atmosphere in Sparr. GO COLTS!

Re: Friday Night Football Scoreboard, 11/2    By danny on 11/3/2007 12:20 AM
lake weir sucks they could have at least won nicely but saying belleview is a gay kid school and that we suck at football is a little harsh. its high school football...not life! RATTLER VOLLEYBALL STILL BEAT EVERYONE! :):):) Which is why theyre in regional playoff games!

Re: Friday Night Football Scoreboard, 11/2    By Nicholas on 11/3/2007 12:34 AM
Congrats to Lake Weir and their recent victories

Re: Friday Night Football Scoreboard, 11/2    By Patrick Bateman on 11/3/2007 12:38 AM
Great win for Lake Weir. It is good to see them get things going. Probably the biggest win there since they beat Forest in 1989. it was the same kind of deal. Forest had beaten them 13 in a row and LWHS won 9-0. BHS had beaten LW eight times and never trailed in those games. This is the kind of game that you can build your program. My question is, why didn't Jamal Thomas get to do the things he does well earlier in the season? I also give Belleview a lot of credit. They were supposed to a be a 2-win team and were just a few plays from having a winning season. As for 4A-6 Leesburg 14, Eastside 7. Yellow Jackets are district champs. Imagine, if lake Weir had held on to defeat LHS, there would have been a tiebreaker on Monday night with Eastside, Lake Weir and Leesburg for the two playoff spots.

As far as the playoffs go, North Marion better strap it on for the state semifinals because their region is almost like playing 3 JV games. I mean, Hudson, Hernando, Citrus and those teams are awful. Nature Coast is the toughest game they will have had in the regional round for a long time.

St. John players and coaches deliver a full game finally. After playing tough teams the last several weeks, they win against a school they are competitive with. GO SAINTS.

Re: Friday Night Football Scoreboard, 11/2    By Jesse on 11/3/2007 2:39 AM
Nature Coast, Harmony, Bishop More, and Eustis are all really good teams that could make a run at state. These teams, including North Marion, could compete anywhere in the state, so I don't thin it will be like playing 3 jv games.

Re: Friday Night Football Scoreboard, 11/2    By Patrick bateman on 11/3/2007 12:09 PM
They are all poor compared to Region 1 my friend. St. Augustine, Baker County, Godby are all much better. Make a run at state, yeah, I am sure Glades Central is real scared of Eustis, Bishop Moore and Nature Boy, I mean Nature Coast or Space Ghost or whatever they are called. it is a shame the FHSAA has so many classes now. It is almost like the NHL, everyone gets a shot.
