An alumnus of UCF and USF contemplates which side to choose on Saturday.

Letters of Mass Confusion - that was the subject line of an e-mail that arrived at the Star-Banner offices recently. It came from Ocala's Bruce Bentler, owner of a 1971 A.A. from the University of South Florida and 1978 B.A. from the University of Central Florida (then Florida Technological University), and it discussed how he's deciding for which team to root in Saturday's game at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

Bentler was kind enough to follow up with a little more detail for The Sports Blog.

His words are below.

Of course I'm for the Knights in the up-coming battle at USF. I grew up in Orlando and played QB for Colonial back in the day. I'm the only one in my family to have finished college, even if it was called Florida Technological University.

But hold the phone. When I think of my college days, I was proud to live in the dorms at USF (Beta 1 West) my freshman year. We won the intermural championship (flag), and after inhaling a few pitchers of beer we climbed the ten-story girls' dorm and hung out the banner from the roof.  I do not remember how we got down!

I'll decide prior to kick-off but until then..I'm pulling for the University of South/Central Florida.
