The eternal parade that takes place well above our heads

Clouds are fascinating entities, don’t you think? They can hug the earth or soar to dizzying heights. They come in lots of different types, and they constantly transmogrify themselves. Clouds are the original “shape-shifters” that one sometimes reads about in science-fiction novels. Watch a bank of clouds for a few moments, and you can see a never-ending parade of new shapes forming as wind, in little puffs and jets constantly impress themselves on the compliant puff-balls.
No human sculptor ever had a more willing material to work with.
It’s not just shapes that capture our fancy with clouds, they come in a dizzying array of colors, too. Have you ever stopped to consider that a truly magnificent sunset is made all the more so by majestic clouds that lend themselves as a projector screen, of sorts, for the spectacularly-colored flood of light from a waning sun. Without the clouds, those beautiful sunsets would not be nearly as dramatic.
And for pure and awesome drama, what about those intimidating thunderheads that sweep into our skies, hurling bolts of lightning, and reverberating thunder from on high. Their dark, menacing forms are enough to chase even the most stalwart of us indoors when the lightning starts dancing about and cracking.
On sunny, lighthearted days, white fleecy clouds float along in the heavens, causing not a care in the world. Their idyllic carriage inspires us all to loftier thoughts about warm, summery days and quiet, relaxing thoughts that bring peace and contentment to our souls.
Clouds can be thin and wispy, or full and energetic, boiling away in unending permutations. Has any child ever lived who didn’t see dogs and horses, acrobats and athletes, or cakes and cookies, and dolls and teddy bears outlined in their shifting forms in a never-ending array of sheer delight.
Clouds can be docile, threatening, peaceful, menacing, beautiful or intimidating. They bring us rain, snow, hail and lightning. They brighten our sunsets, and they occasionally bring us hurricanes and tornados, too.
Clouds are endlessly mysterious, inspiring, and reminders of just how small and insignificant we humans can be in the overall scheme of the universe.
