The 2007 Women’s National Championship Tournament was held in Charlotte, North Carolina, and many of the Ocala Women Bowlers make the journey, participated, had a great time eating out, visiting and making new friends. We have learned that there is a disqualification so that the pay out will be held up approximately 30 days. As soon as Official Results are available we will advise if there are any of the Ocala Women who will be receiving a "check" from Nationals. The National Championship in 2008 will be in Detroit, Michigan and then it returns to Reno, Nevada in 2009. Entry forms are available at bowl.com. or in the league packets that the secretaries picked up at the workshop.
The 2007 Open Championship is official. Many of the local bowlers received "checks". As soon as the listing is complete by USBC we will post the winners names. The 2008 Open Championship will be in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Entry forms are available at bowl.com or in the league packets that the secretaries picked up at the workshop.
The 2007 State Open Championship which was hosted by the Marion County USBC Bowling Association ended on July 1, 2007. Unfortunately, there are numerous "disqualifications" so that the unofficial results are all that are posted at this time. There were several Ocala bowlers who are "in the money" but we have to wait for the appeals process to be completed before they "Officially" will be winners. There were some "Honor" scores rolled by local bowlers and to the best of my know these will hold up: Tyson Kurth 801 series; Charles Axe, Jr. 825 series; Robert Craft 300 game; Brian Carney 300 game; Charlie Duesling 300 game; Roger Bowker 300 game; Lance Roerts 298 game; Randy Knox 11 in a row 296 and Charles Axe, Jr. 11 in a row 290. Word has it that the first place team is from Ocala and that there are some doubles winner and some singles winner - but we will wait until we have the official word before congratulating those bowlers.
The 2008 State Open Championship will be held in the Jupiter/Boynton Beach area. Entry forms will be out in October. The tournament will only run 9 weekends May 3 through June 29. Get your entry in early to be assured of the date and time you want.
Entry forms are available at the centers for most of the upcoming tournaments such as Florida Senior Women, Florida Women’s State, State 500, State 600 and Nationals. If you don’t find an entry for you are looking for please let the bowling center know what you are looking for and they will contact the appropriate individuals or give you their contact information.
Bowler Of The Year Roll-off will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at AMF West. If you are eligible to participate please come out and join in the fun. There is no cost to the bowler - just come and bowl!!
Remember that your league officers do not have control over the lane conditions (oil or lack thereof) or the center conditions (air conditioning) at the bowling centers. Those are controlled by AMF CORPORATION. Please voice any complaints to the staff at AMF and not just to your league officers.
NOTE: There is a web site being developed and should be unveiled the middle of September. Once it is launched information will be provided. There will be a direct link to the blog as well as to bowl.com and the state associations included. More later.
