Take a look at this picture, and see if you're not just a little jealous of Jessica Dickson.
The panorama above is a picture of Sibenik, Croatia, where Vanguard graduate Jessica Dickson will be playing basketball for the next 9 months.
Dickson will leave Sept. 14 to join Sibenik Jolly JBS, a team in the Croatia A1 league, which I believes means they're pretty good. That's about all I can discern about the team from its page on Eurobasket.com, other than the fact that it is loaded with tall white girls, has Halloween-themed uniforms and is operated by a group of men who appear to have both Swiss bank accounts and Swiss army knives.
I'm more interested in the city, to tell you the truth. Having lived in Germany and traveled Europe when I was too young to appreciate it, I envy people who get to see castles with creepy faces on them and postcard scenery like that seen above. I know Jessica would rather be home playing for the Fever or the Monarchs or the Comets, but this is a cool opportunity to do something kind of special.
And the people of Sibenik appreciate a good jumper like Jessica's - the late Drazen Petrovic is from there. |
