Environmental blogger in Ocala tries to get a unique autograph from an out-of-the-ordinary Republican Governor LEADERS LEAD – FOLLOWERS DON'T
Do you find yourself listening to A.M. talk radio all day, only to angrily regurgitate it to whomever will listen to you for more than 30 seconds?
Well, this blog entry is not for you. This blog entry is for leaders, not followers.
Today, I want to point out the power of a strong leader.
Yes, again with my favorite Republican, Charlie Crist. He is leading the front towards a new era of environmental cleanliness and energy independence.
Crist said in a story titled “Crist wants Florida to lead in clean fuels”:
"We have a duty to lead," Crist said. "It means a partnership [for government] with the people. We have a duty to serve them, and part of that service is to protect Florida. I doubt that very many object to the fact that we're going to keep Florida clean."
It is surreal to hear a Florida Republican saying things like this. It is striking and exciting in the wake of industry-owned Jeb. It is everything I always wanted to hear a Florida leader say - and since Florida seems to be such a staunch Republican state, it is especially fantastic to hear a Republican saying such things.
I guess it’s not so weird anymore to care about clean air and clean water. I get an awful lot of ribbing from people about being an environmental blogger.
Now I just say, “hey - go tell the Govorner!”
One of my favorite writers, Carl Hiaasen, wrote an editorial in today’s Star-Banner titled “A breath of fresh air in Florida” making mention of this phenomenon of a Republican govorner in Florida caring so much about such issues:
“Something that was once unimaginable in Florida happened last week: A Republican governor hosted a global warming summit...It's official: Charlie Crist is the un-Jeb.”
Mission: SIGN THIS!
That got me thinking... I have my prized University of Florida Journalism degree hanging in my house - only it’s got Jeb Bush’s signature on it because he was govorner when I graduated.
Hmmmmm.....
So I wrote a letter to Gov. Crist asking him if he would do me a favor.
Would the Governor do me the honor of allowing me to cover Jeb Bush's name with a white sticker label, so I can bring it up to Tallahassee and have Crist sign it instead?
That would be fabulous, and it would mark for me, personally, a great new era in our Great State.
Will he do it? We’ll see. |

| WOW, I don't know what he'd say about signing a sticker, that's harsh. I love it though! I feel exactly the same way about him, SO refreshing. He's putting my faith back into politics... I don't think the two parties were supposed to be so far apart, and caring for the world and its people should come from all sides.

Fun idea, the diploma signing... see what happens! Maybe you could say you lost it and order another with Crist's signature??

Cheers! |

| Wow, you really don't like Jeb Bush. At least your diploma's signed by the governor. Enjoy that privilege my friend. |
