Jack Sprague wins in a three-wide photo finish. Read the lap-by-lap update here, and check out Saturday's Star-Banner for complete coverage.
Lap 100 - With Travis Kvapil leading coming out of turn 4, Jack Sprague used drafting help from Johnny Benson to shoot to the outside with 200 yards to go and beat Kvapil and Benson in a three-wide photo finish. After helping Sprague, Benson pulled to the inside to finish second, only .031 seconds (roughly two feet) behind. In the end, Kvapil's Ford could not hold off the pair of Toyotas.
Kvapil looked to have the race in the bag, leading by two truck-lengths as the lead pack entered turn 3. But Sprague was laying back to make one more run, and he timed his move perfectly. Kvapil held on for third with Mike Skinner and Todd Bodine rounding out the top five.
Lap 95 - Travis Kvapil leads Jack Sprague, Erik Darnell, Johnny Benson and Todd Bodine as the race restarts with six laps to go. Ron Hornaday has climbed to seventh and has the freshest tires of the lead pack.
Lap 88 - As Travis Kvapil and Jack Sprague battle for the lead, Chase Miller gets turned into the outside wall, slamming into the outside wall on the driver's side and then shooting airborne. Brendan Gaughn and Dennis Setzer crash each other trying to avoid Miller's flying truck. Miller's truck does not overturn and comes to rest just shy of the start-finish line. All drivers walk away, but debris is scattered all over the track as the seventh caution flag of the night flies.
Lap 86 - Racing resumes with a potential 15-lap shootout to determine the winner. Over 15 trucks have shown that they have what it takes to lead the race. The win could very well be decided by a last-lap pass. Todd Bodine leads Jack Sprague, Johnny Benson, Travis Kvapil and Mike Skinner. Ron Hornaday, the first truck in line to pit, restarts 12th.
Lap 80 - J.J. Allmendinger tagged rookie Kelly Bires, spinning Bires into the outside wall and then into Mike Bliss and Blake Bjorklund. Trucks toward the back of the pack pit while the leaders stay out.
Lap 75 - Outside pole sitter Carl Edwards lost several laps early on when he pitted for a broken transmission. Now he's at the front of the pack, helping teammates Travis Kvapil and Erik Darnell race for the lead.
Lap 66 - Mike Bliss stops with a lap to go during the caution period to top off the fuel tank. He is now in the best shape to make the finish if the race stays green.
Lap 63 - Everyone came to pit road under caution, and a plethora of strategies were put in place. With 36 laps to go, everyone is right on the bubble of their fuel window. Jack Sprague leads with Rick Crawford, Erik Darnell, Mike Bliss and Ted Musgrave rounding out the top five.
Lap 61 - Terry Cook got hooked into the frontstretch wall as flames erupted, engulfing his Toyota as it came to rest just past the start-finish line. Cook quickly freed himself from the smoldering vehicle and walked away with no injuries. No other trucks were involved.
Lap 51 - Johnny Benson, who was running third, came to pit road for fuel and tires. The caution came out on the backstretch, allowing Benson to make his pit stop and stay on the lead lap. Benson leads as green flag racing resumes on lap 54.
Lap 40 - After 40 laps, 27 trucks are racing in the lead pack, all within two seconds of each other. They race two-by-two, inches apart, trading positions in every corner. Travis Kvapil leads with Rick Crawford in tow.
Lap 34 - Travis Kvapil, with help from Carl Edwards, shoots past Benson to take the lead.
Lap 30 - After the restart, Johnny Benson takes the lead for the first time tonight.
Lap 23 - Jason White plowed into the back of Joey Clanton, triggering a six-truck pile up on the frontstretch. Clanton was slowing to get to pit road when White got into the back of him. White then shot up the race track and collected Ken Schrader, Aaron Fike, Willie Allen and Kraig Kinser.
Lap 13 - After the second caution for debris, all trucks hit pit road, some taking tires while others took only fuel. But due to a NASCAR timing malfunction, not every driver was able to see that pit road was open. NASCAR froze the field and returned everyone to their pre-caution position. |
