So you want a little magic in your life, do you?

Have you ever wondered what might happen and how your life would change if you crossed paths somehow with a magical Genie who granted you three wishes? I think the most difficult part of the process would be in trying to decide exactly what to ask for.
If you ask for tons of money, you would of course increase your tax liability dramatically. Then friends, relatives and people you’ve never known would begin pressuring you for money. Some would swindle you, some would borrow but never pay back, and some would just outright steal it from you. After a few years, you could probably classify everyone in the world into two broad camps: those who got some of your money, and those who did not. But one thing you can be sure of, NEITHER of those groups would be happy! And the reason would be that neither group would feel they got ENOUGH of your dough!
If you asked the Genie for lots of companionship from the opposite sex, then romantic rivalries, jealousy, envy and a lot of other human frailties would invariably bubble to the surface and wreck whatever dreams for happiness you may have thought those relationships would provide.
If you asked for eternal life, and your body starts breaking down in your 70s or 80s as happens to most of those who manage to survive that long, then you’d have nothing to look forward to but an eternity of ever-increasing misery, pain and suffering.
If you pleaded for Peace on Earth, the military-industrial complex types would probably put a contract out on you, so that wouldn’t work out too well, either.
And if you decided not to wish for anything at all, everyone would think you’re an idiot for not asking for whatever it is that they would ask for!
When you come right down to it, it’s probably a pretty good thing that there ARE no genies and no magic lamps, either!
